Die Statue von Molly Malone hat Jeanne Rynhart als Tribut an den berühmten Song über die Fischhändlerin 1987, anlässlich zu Dublins 1.000 Jahrfeier 1988, errichtet.

Molly Malone ist wohl einer der bekanntesten irish Folksongs und eine inoffizielle Hymne der Stadt Dublin.

Die Legende besagt, dass die Fischhändlerin Molly Malone im 17. Jahrhundert in Dublin gelebt hat, historisch belegen lässt sich das jedoch nicht.
